The Next Growth Industry: Teeth
Literally – Japanese researchers are figuring out how to regrow teeth
Ric Edelman: It's Thursday, November 9th. Scientists are making big progress in creating a new drug that will let you grow teeth. Yeah. Clinical trials are scheduled to start next year. If this works, your dentist will be able to deliver this to you by the end of the decade. The research is being done at the Medical Research Institute at Kitano Hospital in Japan.
A lot of people don't have teeth because of their genes or developmental issues that occurred before they were born. Anodontia is the medical term for people who have no teeth. Right now they've got to wear dentures or get implants. A drug to regrow teeth? That would be revolutionary. It would also help people who have lost their teeth due to cavities or dental disease. Pretty exciting stuff.
